Anti-Diet
“Every girl remembers her first diet. Usually, it’s her mother’s.”
This quote gives me pause every time I run across it. It speaks truth to too many people I know.
I think it's really easy to forget that anything we consider a normal part of our day, those looking up to us consider a normal part of being an adult.
I know your struggle with food and weight and control is a personal thing. This is a gentle reminder that it cannot impact who you are without impacting those close to you.
Young brains are not great at nuance. Not great at knowing when to stop losing weight, that you don't hate all of yourself, that some rest days are necessary.
I am strongly anti-diet.
My body runs on food, not numbers and math.
Dieting is a fantastic tool to ruin an intuitive relationship with food. I'm not going to give my boys that weapon against themselves.
