It’s not about clearing your mind
Mindful is one of those mental health buzzwords right now, and unfortunately like all things in popular psychology, I think a lot of the purpose and practice of mindfulness have gotten lost in translation.
Mindfulness is not picturing your favorite beach. Well, maybe it is, if that's what helps you get there, but the practice of mindfulness is really more about the intentional practice of being with and accepting the present moment, non-judgmentally. You are here and it is okay. Repeat. Again. Be intentional with it. Mean it.
Noticing my body, how it moves and feels, the wind, the cold, the air, the ground. The sounds outside. My own heart beating.
Brings me right here. Right to now. Where it is okay and I am... Okay.
