A quick reference guide for freaking out
This is my crisis card!
Yours can have different things written on it, but if you are prone to mental health crises, I highly suggest you take a shot at making one.
(It doesn't need to be laminated... The hospital did mine for me...)
The front side has a favorite affirmation, as well as my local crisis hotlines and reminders of good people to call in an emergency.
The back side has a step-by-step guide for trying to calm myself down.
1) Grounding and breathing exercises
2) and 3) are questions that break my brain out of spiraling. They're unexpected, but usually the answer to at least one of them is illuminating.
4) and 5) are about identifying how to move forward. Usually the answer to 4) informs 5).
