A sensory grounding skill

This is one of my favorite grounding exercises ever.

When we are feeling really anxious about something, our brains tend to run away with thoughts and we can find ourselves more lost in panic than in touch with the real world.

Grounding is a great tool to help with this.

This skill, or 5-4-3-2-1, as it's called, forces you to focus on the physical sensations of reality. By engaging each of your senses in turn - and you'll notice, sight comes first because it's easiest - you really have to slow down and get out of the racing thoughts.

Do any grounding techniques work for you?
