Welcome!

Hi! I'm Kim.

I've been Living With mental health conditions for over two decades now and been in therapy nearly as long.

I have learned so much about not just managing my illness, but also myself, my relationships, and my interactions with the world. I've had the opportunity to learn countless skills that improve my ability to stay mindful, regulate my emotions, and just exist more positively.

Through treatment, I've been reasonably successful. I'm happily married with 2 kids, worked as a Program Manager at Microsoft for ten years, have active hobbies and friendships.

Without treatment, this would not be true. And these days I recognize the immense privilege of having had such access to the services I needed when I needed them.

Many don't.

Mental health resources are severely lacking around the world. From minimal education in schools, to a dearth of available professionals, to neverending insurance issues.

And thus many fall through the cracks.

I'd like to change that.

I'm not a professional. I have been a patient for 20 years though and you learn some things in that time. I've written a lot about mental health over the years, and more than a couple people have found it helpful. Time to pass it on.

LivingWith is a project I'm starting to share mental health resources that might not otherwise be widely accessible.

LivingWith isn't a replacement for professional help. That said, I've found that self-help can be a powerful tool when you're armed with the right knowledge... and it's definitely something when you've got nothing else.

I hope that whatever you're Living With, you can find something in these tools to help out.
